Ananya Udaygiri discovered her love for the nerdy and the wordy after entering high school copy editing competitions as a teen. At West Wing Writers, she’s finally found a way to make that hobby seem cool.
Prior to joining West Wing Writers, Ananya served as Executive Editor of The Stanford Daily, where she unburied hundreds of ledes, fact-checked over 500 articles, and helped lead the paper through a free-speech lawsuit against the Trump administration.
Beyond the newsroom, Ananya sought out opportunities to put her writing to work on something larger than herself. In the press office of the Biden-Harris White House, Ananya staffed briefings and gaggles on national security and drafted social media posts for a senior administration official. At the strategic communication firm SKDK, she prepared the media trainings that gave high-profile figures the words they needed to stand in the spotlight. And at NASA, she wrote pithy copy on asteroids the size of the Empire State Building.
Ananya graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford University in four years with her B.A. and M.A. in Communication. She credits her upbringing in Pearland, Texas for gifting her a love of homespun stories, an appreciation for interstates, and the slightest hint of a drawl.
