Christian Nwachukwu Jr.

Managing Director

From New York City Hall to some of the world’s biggest stages, Christian has helped journalists, novelists, and political leaders make their words sing.

After Mike Bloomberg won a third term as New York City’s mayor, Christian was asked to join the New York City Housing Authority’s communications office. In three months, he was promoted from communications associate to speechwriter, his first professional speechwriting role. The following year, he joined the speechwriting team in City Hall, writing more than 400 speeches and radio addresses for Mayor Bloomberg between 2011 and 2013.

With his window to work for President Barack Obama closing, Christian leapt at the chance to join the Obama administration. He served, first, as Director of Speechwriting and Content at the Corporation for National and Community Service. He later became Director of Speechwriting at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, where he was the chief speechwriter for Secretary Julián Castro.

Most recently, Christian spent more than four years at Bloomberg Philanthropies helping to advance the foundation’s investments to strengthen city halls and improve how local government works.

Prior to his career in politics and philanthropy, Christian also did a stint in the publishing industry. As an associate editor at Random House, he worked with luminaries like Gwen Ifill, J. California Cooper, Marcia Ann Gillespie, Eddie Levert, Sr., Gerald Levert, and E. Lynn Harris. Before that, he also worked with journalist Juan Williams on his New York Times bestseller, Enough.

Christian is a member of West Wing Writers’ New York City office, and holds a BS in Biology from Morehouse College.
