Jonas Kieffer

Executive Director

Member of the Board of Directors

Jonas Kieffer’s plans to become a historian became history when a new, New Jersey governor asked if he would consider writing speeches instead of enrolling in graduate school. Today, he is a strategist for leaders, organizations, and brands at the highest levels of business, philanthropy, culture, and beyond.

Jonas is an Executive Director, and leads the Board of Directors, at West Wing Writers, where he was a Partner before selling his ownership stake to the company’s Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) in 2023.

Since joining the firm in 2012, Jonas has driven growth and transformation, leading a number of partnerships and investments in new businesses and services.  And in collaboration with the firm’s clients he has helped to shape, share, and amplify the stories and ideas at the heart of groundbreaking, widely-recognized thought-leadership and public-affairs campaigns.

Prior to joining West Wing, Jonas served in President Barack Obama’s administration as Director of Speechwriting at the United States Department of Transportation. As a presidential appointee and aide to Secretary Ray LaHood, he led the agency’s team of writers.

Previously, Jonas was a senior executive-communications advisor and chief speechwriter to Dr. Judith Rodin, president of the Rockefeller Foundation. And before that, he was the speechwriter for New Jersey Governor Jon S. Corzine.

Jonas started out as an organizer on local, statewide, and presidential campaigns. A magna cum laude Honors graduate of Brown University, and proud native of Ann Arbor, Michigan, he lives in New York with his wife, their son, and their Vizsla.
