Sarah Lee

Associate

From growing up in a Chinese-Korean-American household to connecting the worlds of tech and human rights, Sarah holds translation close to her heart.

Now at West Wing Writers, Sarah works to interpret stories and visions across audiences, generations, and disciplines. She’s helped Gen Z activists make their case for an assault weapon ban and penned a nonprofit leader’s take on women’s digital safety in a post-Roe world. At the core of Sarah’s writing ethos is a firm belief that the best stories, like the best policies, put people first.

Prior to speechwriting, Sarah tackled some of the internet’s thorniest problems as a tech policy consultant at Duco Experts. From developing white papers on online child safety to organizing executive briefings on election misinformation, Sarah helped facilitate collaboration across the private tech sector, civil society, and academia to safeguard online democracy and human rights.

Sarah graduated with honors from Stanford University, where she earned her M.A. in Public Policy, B.A. in International Relations, and minor in Human Rights. Her interdisciplinary honors thesis studied the role of public comment in Meta Oversight Board decision-making.

Hailing from Los Angeles, Sarah now calls New York City home. Sarah’s ideal morning starts with a cup of tea, Ada Limón poetry, and uploading a mediocre run to Strava.
